For dry cleaning before Christmas, aim to have Standard collections done by Wednesday 16 December; earlier is safer. After that, tell us the date you need and we confirm what Quick, Rush or same-day can meet. The week before Christmas in Sydney fills fast: the menu is planned, the guest room made up, and the suit for Boxing Day lunch is still in its bag from the last outing. This guide works back from 25 December so you know when to book, and you can book the collection now while the slot you want is still available.

Choose Standard, Quick or Rush when you book, then tell us the date you need pieces back. Book a pickup and we confirm what the diary can hold.
Working back from Christmas Day: dry cleaning timelines
Start with the day you need the piece. Christmas Day falls on Friday 25 December in 2026, so most households want everything back by Wednesday 23 December. From there, count backwards. Standard turnaround is three to five days. Quick adds 25% to the cleaning price and shortens the wait. Rush adds 100% and shortens it further. Same-day is subject to availability; book it and we confirm.
The turnaround clock starts when we collect, not when you book. So a collection booked for Friday is a Friday start, even if you booked it on Monday. Pickup and delivery is $25 flat whichever turnaround you choose, and we confirm every collection with you before the driver leaves.
Public holidays also shape the week. In New South Wales, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and an additional day on Monday 28 December are all public holidays in 2026, according to the NSW Government public holiday calendar. Plan for everything to be home by Wednesday 23 December.
Example dates for dry cleaning before Christmas
The guidance below is a planning aid, not a cut-off. It assumes you want pieces back by Wednesday 23 December. Check the booking page for the slots actually available, because availability changes through December.
- Standard (three to five days). Aim to have Standard collections done by Wednesday 16 December; earlier is safer. That leaves room for a piece that needs extra attention.
- Quick (+25%). The sensible choice for pieces you remember after the Standard window has passed. Tell us the date and we confirm what Quick can meet.
- Rush (+100%). For a piece that must come back inside the week, tell us the date and we confirm what Rush can meet. Rush suits the dinner suit or the dress that cannot miss the day.
- Same-day. In the last days before Christmas, same-day is subject to availability. Book it and we confirm.
If a date in your diary moves, tell us. Then we re-plan the collection around it rather than guessing.
Same-day dry cleaning in Christmas week
Same-day dry cleaning in Christmas week is a real option, within limits. It is subject to availability, so we never promise it in advance. Instead, you book it, we check the day’s capacity and the piece, and we confirm. Our same-day dry cleaning page explains how the service works across the year.
Not every piece suits a same-day turnaround. A wool suit or a simple cotton dress usually does. However, heavily beaded gowns, structured coats and large items such as doonas need time to dry and finish properly, so we say so when you book rather than hurry them. Care, not speed, decides the method.
What people forget until the guests arrive
The outfit for Christmas Day is rarely the problem. Three other things slip through every year, and each is easier to sort early.
- Table linen. The damask cloth and napkins from last Christmas often went back in the drawer with a faint wine ring. They need cleaning and pressing before you set the table, so include them in your earliest collection. Our guide to table linen cleaning explains what we look for.
- Guest bedding. A spare-room doona or a set of pillows that has sat all year benefits from cleaning before family sleeps under it. Doonas take longer to dry than garments, so they belong in the Standard window, not the Rush one.
- The Boxing Day suit. Boxing Day lunch, the cricket and a New Year party often fall in the same week. One booking in the Standard window covers all three, and our suit cleaning and shirt service return the suit and shirts pressed together.
Put everything into one collection where you can. One driver, one $25 flat pickup and delivery charge, and one return date to remember.
How to book your last collection before Christmas
Go to the booking page, choose the service, and pick Standard, Quick or Rush. In the notes, write the date you need the pieces back and anything we should know about stains. Then leave the bag with your concierge or at the door. We collect, clean each piece in our own facility to suit its fibre, and return everything finished and ready for the day.
Two habits make Christmas dry cleaning smoother. First, book the collection before you finish gathering the pieces, because the slot matters more than the bag. Second, flag any stain at booking. A champagne mark that has sat since a party in November needs assessment before the day, and we tell you what is realistic before work begins. If shirts and suits go out every week through the party season, a Luxe membership sets a standing weekly or fortnightly collection, so the regular pieces never wait on a new booking.
New Year’s Eve belongs in the same plan. If a sequinned dress or a dinner suit is part of the night, book its clean before Christmas, so it is back in good time. After the night itself, book a collection soon. Champagne dries clear and darkens as it oxidises, and fresh marks respond better than set ones. Our guide to sequin and embellished dress cleaning explains why each dress needs its own assessment.
Your Questions, Answered
When is the last day to book dry cleaning before Christmas?
There is no fixed cut-off, because it depends on the turnaround you choose and the slots available. As a guide for 2026, aim to have Standard collections done by Wednesday 16 December; earlier is safer. After that, tell us the date and we confirm what Quick or Rush can meet, and same-day is subject to availability. Check the booking page for live availability.
Can I still get same-day dry cleaning in Christmas week?
Possibly. Same-day is subject to availability in Christmas week, as at any other time. Book it on the booking page, tell us what the piece is, and we confirm whether the day can hold it. If it cannot, we say so straight away so you can make another plan.
Do you clean table linen and guest bedding before Christmas?
Yes. We clean and press table linen, napkins and runners through our linen service, and we clean spare-room doonas, pillows and blankets through the quilt and doona service. Both take longer than a suit, so book them in the Standard window where possible and keep Rush for garments.
What if my pieces cannot be back in time?
We tell you before we collect. If the turnaround you chose will not meet the date you gave, we offer a faster option or suggest holding the piece until after the holidays. Nothing proceeds on a promise we cannot keep, and you agree the plan first.
Luxe collects from the Sydney CBD, North Sydney, Rose Bay, Lane Cove and nearby suburbs. Choose your turnaround, give us the date, and we confirm the collection. Book online or call 0485 511 744. Pickup and delivery, $25 flat.
